Our goal is to reduce packaging waste through scalable reuse systems. Sustainability is a key pillar of our work, not an end state, but an ongoing process. That's why we constantly work to make our activities more environmentally and socially responsible. We follow clear principles rooted in our values to minimize the environmental footprint of our products and services across their entire lifecycle, with measurable standards for emissions, water, energy, and resources. The same applies to us as well as to all partners and suppliers who are part of our ecosystem.
This is grounded in our Code of Conduct, which sets out environmental, social, and ethical standards.

We focus on four areas that we consider in all our activities and continuously improve:
Development of durable, resource-efficient reuse solutions
Working with partners who share our sustainability standards
Measuring and openly communicating our environmental impact
Equality and development opportunities for all employees
In our Impact Report, we share milestones, challenges, and the environmental and social impact of our work.

Sykell accelerates the transformation to the circular economy. We help companies future-proof their packaging strategy and develop sustainable reuse solutions. With our solutions Circular ERP and EINFACH MEHRWEG, we keep packaging in circulation and prevent waste.EINFACH MEHRWEG is the open, smart reusable ecosystem for plastic-based takeaway (EINFACH MEHRWEG To-Go) and food packaging (EINFACH MEHRWEG Prefill), we operate in Germany. It is integrated into standardised return processes, using existing deposit machines and cross-system return processes. The packaging can be returned in retail, at 6,000 return points to date. This makes reusable packaging circular and suitable for everyday use for users, brands and retailers.
Single-use packaging items already replaced with EINFACH MEHRWEG since 2023, and counting.
(Forecast-based figure)
Every year in Europe, 79.7 million tonnes of packaging waste end up incinerated or recycled after only brief use (Eurostat, 2025).
That's 177.8 kg per person.
This linear system failure wastes resources, harms biodiversity, and drives up greenhouse gas emissions.

In reuse systems, packaging isn't thrown away after a single use, it's returned to the cycle again and again. For reuse to become the norm, it takes established processes, nationwide infrastructure, innovative technology, and responsible partnerships. That's exactly what we work on at Sykell.

We responsibly design the entire EINFACH MEHRWEG cycle, from product design and partnerships through to reuse.
Our software, Circular ERP, creates transparency across the cycle and helps us identify opportunities for environmental improvement.
This ensures reusable packaging stays in use for longer, its environmental impact is minimized, and all legal requirements are met, including the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and Germany's Packaging Act Implementation Law (VerpackDG).

Robust, recyclable mono-materials (PP)

Food-safe, BPA-free materials

Responsible, European partners

Monitoring and full visibility into all reuse data.

Use of reusable crates and existing logistics

Energy- and water-efficient washing processes
We compared EINFACH MEHRWEG To-Go with alternative single-use packaging. This verified Life Cycle Assessment shows the benefits of our reuse solution.
We often hear the same question: does reuse really use less water than single-use? After all, washing uses a lot more water. The short answer: yes.
And the more often a reusable container is used, the greater its environmental advantage, especially when it comes to water consumption. The raw materials used to produce a single-use cup are far more water-intensive than industrially washing reusable packaging.

Reuse generates less waste and water consumption than single-use packaging.*
after 30 uses, compared to single-use plastic packaging.*
*Representative results from the verified Life Cycle Assessment of EINFACH MEHRWEG (compliant with ISO 14040/14044): comparison of 30 uses of EINFACH MEHRWEG To-Go with 30 single-use packages.
For EINFACH MEHRWEG To-Go, we conducted a comparative Life Cycle Assessment in compliance with ISO 14040/14044. This demonstrates the environmental benefits of our solution and lets us continuously improve our systems across their entire lifecycle.
We measure the environmental impact of our reuse systems from the earliest stages of product development, using our Product Carbon Footprint Tool. We assess new reuse concepts for companies from day one to guarantee advantages over single-use.
Sykell's activities contribute to several of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Reuse systems contribute in particular to achieving the following four SDGs:

With our reuse systems EINFACH MEHRWEG To-Go, Prefill and Circular ERP, we work every day to accelerate the transformation to a circular economy and scale reuse solutions. We always keep environmental and social sustainability in view, so we can scale reuse systems responsibly together with our partners and users. Because reuse only works when everyone takes part.
